Fusion 360 - How to create 8020 Frames
Переглядів 2,1 тис.Рік тому
This workflow is somewhat similar to how frame generators in Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks work. It is a L.O.T more manual, but still better than the usual workflow I've seen many times on the Fusion 360 forum. Obviously this works with any from of profile and is not limited to 8020 ;-)
Fusion 360 - Moving the origin of a component (not really)
Переглядів 1,2 тис.Рік тому
A quick explanation how we can design in-place without the origin of new components always coinciding with the overall origin of the design. My apologies for the title. That is basically what the user on the Fusion 360 asked. Other users have asked this before. in CAD software as opposed to example usually you don't move the component/part origin like one might do in Blender, for example. Other...
Fusion 360 - Faceted Ring with T-Splines (mostly)

Modeling the outer surface of a faceted/polygonal Ring with T-Splines. Circular symmetry makes this quick work. The surface is then used as a splitting tool for a solid modeled ring. Fusion 360 - Forum Response - Assembly Topics 1

Using the component move or align features to assemble components is not a good idea in bigger assemblies. Mirroring truly identical components will create BOM problems. Mirroring assemblies does not copy over the joints and also creates mirrored copies of every single sub component. If the BOM wasn’t already a mess, now it is. You CAN ground an assembly!

I tried this and the derived parameters are greyed out and I cannot access them in the new design. Any idea on what is happening?
You’ll have to favorite the derived parameters in the new design.
hey:) klasse Video, ich arbeite selber an Tutorials für Fusion, es gibt nicht sehr viele Leute auf YT die so tief in die T-Spline Materie eintauchen.. sehr schön!
Hi Peter. New Fusion user here. I noticed you make use a "sketch shortcuts" dialog. Is this dialog native to Fusion or is it an addon? If the latter, what is the name of it? Thanks.
Hit the “s” key on your keyboard. In sketch mode it brings up sketch commands.
Thanks!@@TrippyLighting
Six years ago Fusion had this in it and it was free then and its free now. Think of the arrogance that Dassault has to make you pay thousands to access the same features in Solidworks. They advertise their sub D modeling like they invented it. Yikes
So good and perfect.
Thanks for the video, helped me solve this mystery! Fusion (as of January 2024) is still weird about how you can select things for "As-Built Joint," but if I start that command, then select the component I want to freeze and the top-level Origin, it does indeed work.
Thanks for the Video Peter, very clearly explained! (I am making almost the exact vice!)
anyone knows how to wrap this around a cylinder?
You can try to use sheet metal → unbend
Finally someone who drills detail...I mean real detail. Vielen Dank
Is this not possible in fusion 360?
It depends. In Fusion 360 this is a very manual approach and easily takes 10 times longer . It's a very different and laborious workflow.
That was intense bro - thanks for sharing!
I’ve been tearing my hair out trying to get a tangency condition like this. This was super helpful!
beautiful
One of the most clear, interesting, helpful, concise, amazing tutorials I've ever seen in my life. I learned a ton of new stuff from it. Thank you a lot!
Great content. This is such an obscure aspect of Fusion, and there are very few resources that discuss this topic. Thanks for doing this.
Very helpful! Thank you Peter
I feel like solidworks is *way* stronger than fusion 360 at doing reverse engineering manipulation from 3d scans. "I want to make a piece that fits on top of this 3d scanned part" is just wildly difficult to do in fusion.
How is someone supposed to follow along with a tutorial if you are just hitting buttons on your keyboard, like at 2:47, and not telling us what you did? I have no clue where to find that menu option, or if I even need it. You just hit a magic button and said "screw everybody following along..."
Why is it called fushion 360 when you do it in blender and not in fushion 360?
Great Video! Super clear, helps explain what is really going on, and what to shoot for to order to get better surfaces. Thank you!
Es wird nichts geredet nichts erklärt. Unnötiges video.🥱
The video is 4 years old and quite out of date. If you want to learn how to model with T-Splines watch Arrimus3 www.youtube.com/@Arrimus3D and name not important www.youtube.com/@unimportantprojects
Man it is so stupid that we have to use complicated workarounds like this just to use a simple feature which every other CAD software has, and which clearly fusion360 also fundamentally has, but doesn't allow us to use as a sketch tool. Fusion's limitations and oversights are really starting to show themselves to me more and more
Agreed!
Nice video is there a way to make it on solidworks ?
I am trying to program a groove like this for a mill with a 4th axis with fusion 360. The multi-axis rotary operation seems like the best choice but all the options have the tool pecking out the groove rather than following the contour. do you have any tips?
I don't do CAM stuff, so cannot answer your question. You best post this in the Manufacture section of the Fusion 360 forum:forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-manufacture/bd-p/2070
Excellent video Peter, that has really helped my understanding.
Thanks for the feedback!
Thank you Peter! 3:30 The How and Why to use "As-Built Joint" instead of "Ground"
outstanding tutorial, great way of combining tools and workflows to get a super complex design
Peter, fantastic!!!!🤩🤩
As soon as I go near the subdivision surface modifier, blender hangs and that is as far as I get with adding textures. Extremely annoying.
What do you mean with "go near" ? Can you not use it at all ?
Very nice to review the same video for the second time! Very good job!!!
Neat video!
It's a bit outdated as Blender has received a number of significant updates, e.g. Gometry Nodes.
@@TrippyLighting I figured there would be a lot different after 3 years of updates!
but how can you derive from another project folder?
That is currently not possible.
Thanks Peter for your excellent sessions. Let me allow to ask a more simpler question: I like this form (german ) tool to modify bodies. But how I can come in this situation? : I have a flat solid with splines curves as boundary . Now I want to build up the flat construction to 3D sculpture with double curved surface, like a sculptor. The only restriction I don't want to change the boundary form of this model. So I must start with this solid (coming from a .SVG File, now with thickness, that it). I search a while for a solution, but I doesn´t find anything . Always the guys started with in sculpt (From )modus, I am i the solid modus .How to came with such model in sculpt mode ? Thanks for our suggestions. Christian
❓ How to make parameters bound to individual components? E.g. a component with 3 defining parameters. And when I import it into an other file multiple times I want to adjust those 3 parameters for each "copy" of the component individually without loosing the link to the main component. (Because of when I want to add features or bodies to it.) I really hope there would be something like "properties" for a component to change those parameters.
What you are looking for is a functionality called "configurations" that isn't yet implemented in Fusion 360. Should be out sometime earlyish next year.
@@TrippyLighting Ok, thanks for your answer! I'm looking forward to it. Is there some kind of workaround at the moment? (Maybe unlinking a copy of a component to change the parameters and if I want to change something for all copies go in history back bevor I unlinked them? Or something like this)?
I have done it in different ways, but your video helped a lot. Cheers dude
Gemial!!!! saludos desde Argentina. Gracias
So this is a real forum bug then? Bc I just tried to insert a screencast from my list and got this annoying html error message... Then I tried your trick, but apparently in April 2022 this isn't working anymore 😢
Correct! It is a bug they have not been able to fix for a long, long time.
Schlecht erklärt, Funktionen werden benutzt die in Fusion Standard nicht enthalten sind usw. sitzen 6
LOL. Das Video ist 5 Jahre alt. Damals Gabe as keine eingebauten funktionieren dafür in Fusion 360. Heute gibt es zwei eingebaute Funktionen in Fusion 360. Zum einen gibt es die Blech Werkzeuge aber seit etwa einem Jahr gibt es das Emboss Werkzeug mit welchem dies super einfach ist!
Fantastic! I have been trying to suss this out for ages. Thank you!
excellent
I really enjoyed the clear presentation!
thank you for the video, but you got to tell people what you press (to access menus, shortcuts, etc.) because we cannot see and for people who never used blender before it is a whole another process to try and figure that out
I disagree. The purpose of my tutorials is not to explain every keystroke. It is to explain the general concept. Concepts translate across applications, keystrokes usually don't!
@@TrippyLighting ok
Nice technique. Thanks for showing it.
Excellent piece! Thanks Peter
Got into T spline modelling through parametric mechanical type stuff with Fusion. As a result I was totally lost trying to fix topology problems like this. Still totally lost and looking to study some theory, but this video was a huge help and a great starting point for further investigation.
horrible, you have the hardest time showing how to mirror an image
I think you have no idea what you are looking at.
thanks man! It helped!
What you suggest to use instead of Mirror - Pattern, right?
As a long time fusion user, I have to say this logic to spilt body is so dumb, they can just add one more option to the extrude called Split, that will save all the clicks.
